Snow On Roofs A "Concern"
It's a winter to remember for some homeowners. Many have huge amounts of snow on the roofs of their houses which is cause for concern according to Ron Rost of Triad Roofing. His advice is to use common sense and examine how much snow has accumulated and to act before a possible collapse. Rost says the problem is more serious in some parts of the city. He says his company has been answering up to 20 calls a day for snow removal services.

Morning Mishap
No one is hurt following a single vehicle collision on Water Street and Villa this morning at around 9:30. Officials say that an SUV knocked down a light pole and rammed into a building. It's unknown why the driver lost control.

Man Rescued From Mount McKay
A 24 year old man is recovering in the Health Sciences Centre after being rescued from the side of Mount McKay Saturday evening. Fire officials say the high angle rescue began just before 6 o'clock and took about 8 hours to complete . They say that earlier the man had been attempting a jump with a parachute type device called a speed wing when it failed to deploy and he became stranded. Rescuers had to rappel down in dark and icy conditions, but did reach the victim and he was carried down in a basket stretcher, conscious the whole time. The man is said to have sustained multiple injuries but his immediate condition is not known.

Collision On South Side
No injuries to report following a two vehicle collision at the corner of Arthur and James Streets just before 5 o'clock this afternoon. One person was shaken up and police say that person was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Collision At William & Balmoral
A two vehicle accident at the intersection of William and Balmoral is causing traffic to be slowed down. The mishap is in the area of the Golf Links road detour. Traffic is backed up in the area. A witness says there are injuries, police can not confirm the extent of injuries.

South Side Grass Fire Controlled
Grass fire season is back again. Firefighters on the city's south side now have a sprawling fire next to the Resolute paper mill complex under control. At one point, just after the noon hour, white smoke was billowing over much of Westfort. There are no injuries to report.

Water Levels Continue Rising
The Lakehead Region Conservation Authority says many area waterways continue to rise especially in the city and in Oliver Paipoonge . The Neebing River is rising at a rate of 15 centimetres and hour. Corbett Creek is also rising considerably. More rain is expected overnight. 15 millimetres is possible.
