Local Hockey Legend could hit the big screen

A full length feature film could soon be in the works for a Thunder Bay hockey legend. A group headed by another local man Dave Ferguson has finished shooting a 15 minute short film in Saskatchewan and hopes to turn it into a major motion picture.  Ferguson says the movie is about Bill "Goldie" Goldthorpe, who was the inspiration for the infamous character Ogie Oglethorpe from the 1977 hit movie Slap Shot. Ferguson says he met with Goldie last year after hearing his story thinks a movie about Goldthorpe is long overdue.

Kony 2012 sets the Internet on fire

A video calling for awareness about an African Warlord is setting the Internet on fire this week.  The video called Kony 2012 focuses on Ugandan Joseph Kony, leader of the Lord's Resistance Army.  Lakehead University Political Science Professor Laure Paquette says Kony is notorious for turning children into  soldiers or prostitutes and has been terrorizing Central Africa for over 20 years.  She says he's wanted by the International Criminal Court and has so far eluded capture.  Paquette says currently the U.S. has about 200 advisers in Uganda that are helping the African Country in trying to locate Kony and bring him to justice.

Daredevils ski the city streets

Here's a video of some local skiiers turning Thunder Bay's Streets into a freestyle course.  The video has been making waves on Twitter and could be on the verge of going viral. 

Attawapiskat cries for help

More people are calling for help for the Attawapiskat First Nation.  The Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario are calling on Premier McGuinty and Prime Minister Harper to intervene in the housing crisis on the Northern reserve.  They say some of the living conditions in Attawapiskat are deplorable and dangerous.  Chief Theresa Spence asked last month that her community be evacuated before winter because lives were at risk.  Area MP Charlie Angus says five families are living in tents, while another 19 families are living in sheds without running water.

Local girl is finalist in BBM Challenge

A fashion icon in the making is in the running in a North American Wide BlackBerry competition.  Alex Kruse is a student at Lakehead University and is taking part in the BBM Challenge under the Fashion category.  Her latest video was the top pick in her category and you can vote for her by going to the BBM Challenge website. 

Marc Staal is out with post concussion symptoms

Marc Staal could be out for a month due to a concussion.  TSN's Bob McKenzie is tweeting that the Rangers have shut down Staal's rehab and say he could be out of action for a month.  McKenzie says the bottom line is Staal isn't progressing and has had setbacks and sounds like he shut down rehab completely while getting more medical opinions.  Marc suffered a concussion February 22nd of last season from a hit from his brother Eric.

Thunder Bay CA amoung finalists

Lakehead University's Richard Jagielowicz is among 6 finalists in the Right to Rule campaign.  People can vote for his video CA Rockstar until November 26th.  The videos are aimed at drumming up interest in accounting, the winner will win 15 hundred dollars.
