State Of Emergency In Wawa

OPP are warning motorists about a washout in the Wawa area.  The community has declared a state of emergency because of heavy rainfall.  Several residents are cut off and police are warning motorists to stay off roads in the area unless absolutely necessary after heavy rain overnight washed out the Trans-Canada Highway.   Highway 17 at Wawa is closed in both directions as a result of high water levels that eroded the road.
